--original event notice here on Ning follows--

Meet up with TPF at the staging area for groups walking in the parade, in good time for the 11am start to the parade. We will have banners for you to help hold, but no float or vehicle this year. Join us in this wonderful annual event! TPF is directly inspired by MLK's example.
Please be advised that streets around both OSU-Tulsa campus (John Hope Franklin Blvd) and Black Wall Street (North Greenwood Ave) will be closed to vehicle traffic, with barriers going up to protect the parade route, starting early on the morning of the 15th January.
If you'll be joining us, we will be congregating near the corner of Main Street & Fairview, located about 1 block north of Cain's Ballroom, in the hours prior to the parade, waiting for the start time. Look for the TPF green & white banner in order to find our group.

Join us, tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

We applied --and paid for-- for a maximum 20 participants in our marching entry.

"All parade units/entries must comply with the maximum number of participants per entry."

"ALL UNITS MUST MAINTAIN FORWARD MOTION unless directed otherwise by the official MLK Parade Staff and/or Law Enforcement. The parade ends at Archer & Elgin – Do not stop, disband or exit parade until reaching this point and following Parade Officials' direction to proper location."

Judging of entries starts at 8:30 am. (TPF is not competing, however). Parade starts at 11am.

Everyone participating in the parade is obliged to recognize the MLK Society's rules for the parade. Among those, it states:

"The MLK Commemoration Society, parade committee and parade officials reserve the right to disqualify any entry not complying with the rules-regulations and guidelines and/or the spirit of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration festivities.  ... actions portraying violent, abusive and/or offensive behavior are not permitted and will be grounds for removal."

We are to slot ourselves into the space and time allotted to us, and 'fit with the program' of the day.
