"Kill the Messenger" Resurrects Gary Webb, Journalist Maligned for Exposing CIA Ties to Crack Trade

See feature film excerpt, and new documentary film excerpt, as well as extended interview on http://democracynow.org - The new Hollywood film "Kill The Messenger" (2014) tells the story of Gary Webb, an unjustly maligned investigative journalist who deserved a Pulitzer Prize for his reporting, instead of ostracism.

The segment describes the “gatekeeper” function of the mainstream meda (a kind of agenda-setting, or “conduit” journalism unwilling to criticize the government official line), and addresses what is sometimes called “priming” of mass audiences by the mainstream media, how it jumps to conclusions about breaking stories, here with dismissive editorial lines by the mainstream print media.
