Monthly Meeting

This event repeats every month on the Thursday after
the first Saturday monthly protest.

Please join us in the decision making and planning of our activism.

  1. Current/Ongoing Business

A. Staff changes: Pending approval by the board at this meeting, we
have an additional board member

B. Review of previous weekend's TPF Monthly anti-war demo on Nov 6th ,
corner of 41
st
& Yale, in Tulsa.

C. Review of first TPF entry in “Boo Ha Ha!” Hallowe'en parade, 30th Oct 2010.  Attended: 18 people,
including 5 children. Tulsa parade in Brookside (up and down Peoria
Ave)

Parade float organizers: B. Geary and K. Moheb. Regalia used: two cloth banners with TPF iconography and logo (designed and created by T.
Nuspl).

Volunteer to lead procession: B. Cheek, “standard-bearer”

Dispensing of gifts: Volunteers to distribute origami/candy to kids included B. Fletcher, M. Clarke, A. Jaramillo, and T. Nuspl. Various volunteers
to make origami: including L. Cole, in Owasso.

Theme for TPF's entry this year: “nuke weapons are scary”; abolition of nuclear weapons, “peace cranes” anti-nuclear symbol since
Hiroshima. Slogan: “Let's give children a world without nuclear
weapons.” Placards used: various anti-nuke cardboard signs, e.g.
“Give Kids a Nuke-Free Future,” etc.


Strengths of our first parade entry: Kids more interested in colorful origami peace symbol than in candy. Fancy automobile: Mercedes Benz
convertible with TPF banners flying against silver background. First
use of TPF t-shirt as parade uniform/costume. Color-coordinated
participants wore black, green and/or white.

Peace Action is the nation’s largest... peace network, with over 30
different chapters nationwide. For over fifty years, Peace Action
believes that “war is not a suitable response to conflict; that every
person has the right to live without the threat from nuclear weapons;
and that America has the resources to both protect and provide for its
citizens.” They have organized many campaigns to end the nuclear
threat, create a more peaceful economy, and support nonviolent
resolutions to worldwide conflicts. With over 100,000 members.

D. TPF table for Peace Festival in OKC on Sunday Nov 14 2010.

3 volunteer(s) have come forward for OKC event.:
B. Cheek, B. Fletcher and J. Macmahon (driver) will staff the table.


E. TPF planned participation in MLK Parade, January 2011. Parade date: Monday 17th
Jan 2011, in Tulsa.

Theme of this year's parade: "Honoring Our Heritage, Inspiring Change!" We will be marching simply with banners that read
"Tulsa Peace Fellowship."

TPF entry: “The Tulsa Peace Fellowship is directly inspired by the antiwar advocacy of Martin Luther King. TPF aims to help make peace,
social uplift, and nonviolence the nation's top priorities, rather
than militarization.”

F. Call for Vote (CFV) on TPF By-law.  (Voting rights are for full members of the Steering Committee only)


G. TPF exposure online

H. TPF fundraising.

  • Peace House Tulsa is also in desperate need of raising funds, to cover rent

I. Planned TPF screening of film “Occupation 101” in response to the
apartheid regime in Israel/Palestine. Date to be announced

L. TPF counter-recruitment task force. Help get students off military recruiters' lists, both
locally (high school lists) and nationally (Pentagon's list). Do
outreach to parents/students in the Tulsa Public Schools system
and/or the Broken Arrow school system.

Peace Festival: Oklahoma City, Sunday, Nov 14, 2010.

TPF presence requested. We have a small posse attending, to staff a TPF table.


The November Vigil to Close the School of the Americas (SOA)
will be held from November 18-21, 2010, Fort Benning, Georgia. “SHUT
DOWN THE SOA and RESIST U.S. MILITARIZATION IN THE AMERICAS”


TPF monthly anti-war Peace Vigil, Saturday December 4th @ 12 noon
