Fr. Roy Bourgeois: A New Model of Being Church

The Vatican had proclaimed 2009-10 as The Year of the Priest. In recognition of this, The Epiphany Group, www.epiphanygroup.org, is presenting two workshops, followed by our annual lecture featuring Fr. Roy Bourgeois. All of these events will focus on the role of women in the church and in the priesthood.

Fr. Roy Bourgeois is a Maryknoll priest, best know as a human rights activist, and in recent years as an outspoken advocate for women's ordination. He has been fighting for two decades to close the U.S. Army School of the Americas at Fort Benning, Ga., which trains Latin American soldiers, many of whom have committed human rights abuses in their home countries. He founded the School of the Americas Watch (SOA Watch) and leads an annual vigil outside Fort Benning that attracts thousands who want to see the operation shut down.
