Conversation/Book Signing with Peace Activist John Dear
Location: Hardesty Regional Library, in the Frossard Auditorium on Wed. March 18th at 7:00 pm.
Nobel Peace Prize Nominee JOHN DEAR will read from his new book Praise Be Peace: The Psalms of Peace and Nonviolence in a Time of War and Climate Change. He will then take questions and sign books. (Copies will NOT be for sale at the event, due to venue restrictions, so buy your copy beforehand.)
Topics include the anti-war, pro-peace psalms, and the psalms that celebrate creation, as a way to ground ourselves in faith and trust in the God of peace during these times of war and climate change.
e.g. “The God of peace takes no delight in the strength of the war horse, no pleasure in the stride of the warrior,” we read in Psalm 147. “Rather, the God of peace takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.”
Rev. John Dear is the author of 35 books including The Beatitudes of Peace, Walking the Way; Thomas Merton Peacemaker, and Living Peace. He works with CampaignNonviolence.org and the Vatican Nonviolence Initiative. His monthly “Peace Podcast” is available on itunes and paceebene.org.
