Tulsa Peace Fellowship

There never was a good war or a bad peace. ~Ben Franklin

Donations to TPF are now possible through GOODSHOP and GOODSEARCH

Dear grassroots TPF members, board members, advisors and subscribers --

You are our only foundation - TPF does not enjoy the financial support of grant-making foundations or corporate sponsors. The work of the Tulsa Peace Fellowship is predominantly funded by individual donors in Northeast Oklahoma who know that investing in peacebuilding works.

Today we announce a new way for you to help generate funds for the Tulsa Peace Fellowship.

Help TPF while you Shop Online with a visit to GoodShop before you buy

The next time you shop online, help out the Tulsa Peace Fellowship with just a little effort on your part! Simply start your shopping online with a quick visit to
www.goodsearch.com/goodshop.aspx

1. Click on the link for GoodShop

2. If not already pre-selected, type "Tulsa Peace Fellowship" where it says "Who do you Goodshop for?"
3. Click on your store either from the "Search for Stores" list or the "Most Popular Stores" list.
4. Click on "Shop Now."

Then shop online as you normally would do -- it's that easy!
Henceforward, every time you shop online at about 1,300 participating stores online, a percentage of your purchase price will be donated to the Tulsa Peace Fellowship. TPF will receive a percentage of your purchase price, usually averaging approximately 3% of the sale, but going up to 20% or even more, depending on the merchant/donor.

Your computer browser remembers TPF as your designated charity the next time you return to the GoodShop webpage and start your shopping from their springboard. You can change your charity or verify that TPF is your designated charity every time you start your shopping. The donations accumulated over the year are paid out to TPF once a year by GoodSearch. You can keep track of donations on our new page: http://www.goodsearch.com/nonprofit/tulsa-peace-fellowship.aspx

Remember to shop with GoodShop as your starting point, if you want to direct your online shopping donations to TPF.

Alternatively, you can help TPF with some “pennies for peace” while you search online:

Related to the above, use GoodSearch to start your “charitable searching” by first going to go to http://www.goodsearch.com/

1. If not already pre-selected, type "Tulsa Peace Fellowship" in the small white box (or form) where it says "who do you Goodsearch for?"
2. Use GoodSearch from now on, in order to generate small donation amounts as you click through the search engine. You can ensure that you use GoodSearch for your online browsing in one of two ways:

a. Make GoodSearch your homepage on your web browser. This way every time you start up your web browser GoodSearch will automatically load and be the first site you see. Plus, no matter where you are on the web, you can always click your browser's “home button” and return to GoodSearch instantly.

b. Add GoodSearch to your list of search engines. Install the GoodSearch search engine to your list of preferred search engines in your browser. This way you can select the GoodSearch search engine prior to your searches for charity.

In order to install Goodsearch as your preferred search engine:

In Moziilla Firefox, for example, look at the top right corner of your browser screen, and find the pull down the menu for search engines (click on the downward pointing dark arrow).

Scroll down to “Manage Search Engines” and when the dialog box pops up, click on “Get More Search Engines.” Now enter “Goodsearch” in the white box, and the download button should appear.

Or go to: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/9674/

When selected, the shortened logo “G” for GoodSearch should appear (in lieu of the Yahoo! logo, or other non-charitable giving search engine)

If you use another browser, such as Apple Safari, or Microsoft's Internet Exploder, consult GoodSearch's Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), .

3. Search the web as you normally would. GoodSearch is powered by Yahoo! search engines.
4. GoodSearch will donate to TPF every time you search online.

Each time you search the web with GoodSearch's Yahoo-powered search engine, about a penny will go the Tulsa Peace Fellowship. The money can add up over the course of the 12-month campaign, and by this time next year, TPF could be on a much firmer footing financially.

Although it's only a matter of about a penny donated at a time to TPF when you used GoodSearch, every little bit helps! Remember first to go to http://www.goodsearch.com/ and select “Tulsa Peace Fellowship” as your charity of choice.

If you have questions about this new stream of revenue for TPF, please consult the GoodSearch / GoodShop FAQ available online: http://www.goodsearch.com/About.aspx#faq

If you solidify the support you provide TPF, the chance of our network of grassroots members becoming powerhouse peace activists becomes even greater, both in Tulsa and more widely in the region.

At this point in our “Twelve Days of Christmas” fundraiser, we'd like to extend a special thank you to Larry Hicks, TPF Patron & Advisor, for his generous $100 donation to the Tulsa Peace Fellowship.

TPF Advisory Group membership consists of honorary positions, TPF Steering Committee emeritii (former board members) and TPF financial patrons, who are subscribed to the Steering Committee list on Yahoogroups.

Some milestones for the Tulsa Peace Fellowship in 2010:

* 12-months of “U.S. Out of Afghanistan !” campaigning, for our regularly-scheduled once-a-month peace vigil, at 41st & Yale, on the first Saturday of every month, with stalwart participation from grassroots members and board members, voicing our anti-war message loud and clear here in Tulsa

* Our first official parade entry in the “Boo Ha-Ha!” parade in Brookside, with a topical theme in favor of the abolition of nuclear weapons; with enthusiastic participation from grassroots members and board members, and a special thank you to Kathy Moheb for the use of her Mercedes convertible as our float entry; also with enthusiastic reception from Tulsan spectators and audience members watching as we marched up Peoria Ave, distributing origami cranes (post-Hiroshima peace symbol)

* festival entry out of town, in Oklahoma City, for the second year running, with the participation of three TPF Steering Committee members, at the Annual PeaceFest, sponsored by our sister organization, Peace House OKC

* participation of two TPF board members in out-of-state demonstrations, in this case, in an August 2010 protest against a military/DOE production facility in Kansas City that contributes parts to nuclear bombs made in the U.S.

* non-violent living course for TPF board members and select active grassroots members, using Pace e Bene's textbook “Engage: Exploring Non-violent Living”; this course includes role-playing exercises, journaling assignments, teaming up with a “peace accountability partner,” and group discussions; one member of this course offered by TPF has since joined an intentional community in Washington D.C., namely, a Catholic Worker collective; she and her husband, also a TPF grassroots member, joined the Dorothy Day Center

* unfailing commitment to providing a regular monthly update/digest for counter-recruitment purposes, “Don't Believe the Hype – Truth in Recruiting Now!” published to both our Yahoogroup and to our Ning webpage, as well as redistributed by our sister organization, the Oklahoma Center for Concscience, via their listserv okobjector@yahoogroups.com

* we passed our first by-law, on the issue of consensus decision-making, to govern official voting procedure for the TPF Steering Committee, which includes a three-person Executive

UPCOMING EVENT planned for January2011:

* Our first official parade entry in the annual MLK Parade, down N. Greenwood Ave., on Martin Luther King Day, a holiday for many, that falls on Monday, January 17th 2011. Come join us! The parade passes right by Peace House Tulsa, at 1314 N. Greenwood Avenue. The theme of this year's parade is: "Honoring Our Heritage, Inspiring Change!"

We will be marching simply with banners that read "Tulsa Peace Fellowship." The TPF entry description: “The Tulsa Peace Fellowship is directly inspired by the antiwar advocacy of Martin Luther King Jr.. TPF aims to help make peace, social uplift, and nonviolence the nation's top priorities, rather than militarization.”

We wish you the very best of the season!

We are still in the midst of
our “Twelve Days of Christmas”
fundraiser.

At this time, we'd like to extend a special thank you to TPF Vice President Carl 'Huti' Reynolds, also with Veterans for Peace, for his $100 donation
to the Tulsa Peace Fellowship.

If you're looking for a last-minute stocking-stuffer, and you're buying online, please consider using the Goodshop-TPF
toolbar
, with automatic donations to TPF. When you
install the toolbar in your web browser, every time you visit a
participating merchant, two buttons light up with:

1) the % donation to TPF (usually between 2% and 15% of your purchase price); and

2) how many coupons are available online from this merchant, through Goodshop.

We hope you can install the toolbar now, to start “charitable shopping” through Goodshop.

Other means of helping the Tulsa Peace Fellowship:

We're raising funds by selling t-shirts, hats, mugs, tote-bags and more.  A percentage of your purchase goes to TPF when you buy TPF apparel
online through CafePress.

We earn 10% of any sales on TPF apparel through the TPF storefront at CafePress/Ning social
network.  Also, CafePress helped TPF
this year with our subscription fee to Ning social network services.

When you buy TPF promotional material as gifts, there is the added bonus of helping to market the Tulsa Peace Fellowship, the apparel making
our name and logo more visible here in the local area.

As you know from the previous broadcast message, the Tulsa Peace Fellowship is now using both GoodSearch and GoodShop to help generate donations.

The GoodSearch Toolbar works with your web browser to ensure that TPF earns money every time you shop and search online.

Just download the GoodSearch – Tulsa Peace Fellowship toolbar at http://www.goodsearch.com/toolbar/tulsa-peace-fellowship

Once added to Microsoft's Internet Explore (IE) or Mozilla's Firefox free web browser, each time you shop at more than 1,300 stores a percentage of your purchase price will be donated to TPF - at no cost to you. And you may even save money as the toolbar provides coupons.

The toolbar also has a search box and each time you search the Internet, about a penny is donated to Tulsa Peace Fellowship.

The money donated to TPF can add up !

Please tell 10 friends about the GoodSearch-TPF toolbar. The more people use GoodSearch on behalf of TPF, the more money it will raise for our activism!
