I have spent the last fifteen years giving guided tours regarding the history of the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot and Black Wall Street to thousands of students, teachers, professional groups, family reunions, etc. Although seldom mentioned or credited, GCC has introduced the history to many who had never heard of it prior to their visit to the center. I am deeply moved by the idea of Restorative Justice and also feel that African Americans want to be talked to, not talked about like people in a faraway land. I want to connect with people who can encourage actions and solutions in a way that embraces peace and minimizes feelings of anger and bitterness often felt as a result of retelling the story over and over again, sometines to people who are also hurt, angry and bitter, som, etimes to people who seem as if they couldn't care less.
