A sub-group of the Tulsa Peace Fellowship is keen on environmental issues, and in particular, is very concerned about the proposed pipeline that will bi-sect the state of Oklahoma, pushing tar sands oil through a fragile pipeline. There has already been a major ecological disaster from a similar pipeline, with the gritty diluted bitumen moving through the pipeline causing it to heat, and burst and spill, contaminating a river; this happened near Kalamazoo, Michigan.
There have been other spills, including one near Cushing, Oklahoma.
